“When I pulled that picture out of the soup it confirmed to me for the rest of my life that I had to be a photographer. I was absolutely amazed by the magic of it.”

Norman Parkinson was born in London on 21st April 1913. To celebrate 100 years since his birth, the Norman Parkinson Archive has released a special centenary limited edition print of one of his most iconic and personally important images.

We still have prints available from the edition. This photograph of model Pamela Minchin on the Isle of Wight was taken for Harper’s Bazaar in 1939. Norman Parkinson credited this photograph as being one of the most significant of his career as it confirmed his vocation as a photographer.
