Norman Parkinson: A Centenary Celebration
9 April to 4 May 2013, Beetles+Huxley, Piccadilly, London
On the centenary of his birth, Beetles+Huxley presents an exhibition of 34 exquisite, rare and collectable prints by the British master of fashion photography.
The exhibition includes rare vintage prints taken directly from the archive, as well as a selection of limited edition classic images.
Working in conjunction with the archive, Beetles+Huxley will be showcasing collectable, vintage photographs sourced directly from the estate.
Containing an array of dazzling portraits, fashion shots and his famous Golden Age of Travel photographs our exhibition will focus on his work from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, when Parkinson's photography brought both glamour and exotic travel into British and American homes.
At the core of the exhibition will be the portraits he took of celebrated people such as Laurence Olivier, Henry Moore, Augustus John, C S Lewis, Margot Fonteyn, Igor Markevitch and Isaiah Berlin. Some of Parkinson's classic images from the Golden Age of Travel along with lesser known images taken during the 2nd World War will be on show.
