As part of the Ballet Under the Stars evening, The Covent Garden Dance Company and choreographer Tim Podesta have created Les Copines, a short one-act ballet based around Norman Parkinson's iconic Hat Fashions photograph. In benefit of the Dicky Buckle Choreographic Fund, Les Copines will be performed at the 17th Century Dutch walled Garden of Hatch House by internationally acclaimed ballet dancers, including Mara Galeazzi, Guest Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet, Jon Axel Fransson and Silvia Selvini from the Royal Danish Ballet and Ksenia Ovsyanick and Jia Zhang from the English National Ballet. Cozmo Jenks, the renowned miliner, is responsible for the hats and headpieces.
The Covent Garden Dance Company is a UK based dance company that represents a fresh approach to creating and producing world class ballet and dance performance internationally. The company is renowned for taking beautiful and unique locations that compliment and heighten the audience’s enjoyment of one of the world’s greatest art forms.
The company combines world famous artists with recognised next generation of dancers to produce world class programmes consisting of classical and neo classical works.
The company is also dedicated to creating original works to the highest degree of excellence both in its performance and in its supporting programs. The company is strongly committed to building and educating new audiences, which includes the creating of new choreographic works from young as well as established creatives and giving them a stage to perform them on. Funds raised from these performances go directly to The Dicky Buckle Fund (Charity Number 116 3430) which was created among other things to commission the new works that are performed at the shows.
