Audrey Hepburn, Italy
Rome, Italy, 1955
Audrey Hepburn photographed at “La Vigna”, a charming villa in Albano Laziale, a commune in the Provincia di Roma in August 1955. The province was on the Colli Albani, in the region of Lazio, Italy. This is an outtake from a 1955 shoot for US Glamour magazine.
“La Vigna” was rented by Audrey and her husband Mel Ferrer, to be their home during the filming of “War and Peace”. This was the same villa they stayed in for their honeymoon in September 1954 (although it was at that time called "Villa Rolli at Albano" because it belonged to a different owner and was later renamed).
Audrey was wearing an ensemble by Givenchy from his Spring/Summer 1955 collection. The knitted top and matching straight-line skirt was made from a silk yarn in a shade of light beige. The tunic had buttons in a matching colout down the back and featured a half sash detail with a button on either side. On the front, there were two pocket details on the hip line. Audrey's gloves were by Roger Faré.
Her hair was styled by Grazia De Rossi and her makeup by Alberto De Rossi (Grazia’s husband).
With many thanks to Fernando Eduardo Sousa 'The Fashion of Audrey' for the information on Audrey's clothing, hair and make up.
